Le Subtle Dance Part 1

Frysland Topher has a dream

The economy in Pleasantview is strong, and business is burning.  I mean booming.  No, that sounds even scarier.

Anyway, the town is full of filthy rich townies who have no sense at all when it comes to shopping.  Everyone is rushing to open a business.

Enter Frysland Topher.  He has a little house, a little girl, and a first name he can’t pronounce.

Frysland:  Frizz land?  Freeze land?  Fries land?

His dream is to open his own business.  However, he also has to take care of his daughter Kaj.

That’s another name he can’t pronounce.  He says it “Cadge” but has a sneaking suspicion that’s not right.  He still can’t figure out why she’s named that.  He certainly didn’t pick the name out.

Kaj is a sweet child, though.  See how delicately she bites the bunny’s ear.

Topher can’t afford a nanny, and he can’t possibly run a business while she’s so young.  She still need a lot of care.

Frysland:  Open wide.  Let me see if there’s pink fur between your teeth.

So he lives off his savings, putting off his dream.  He devotes himself to Kaj, teaching her everything she needs to know.

He makes sure to put lots of toys around when she’s learning to walk, so she’ll be prepared for the real world.  Everyone knows life is an obstacle course filled with stinking bottles.

At least in Pleasantview it is.

Compulsory awwwwwww photo.

Then Kaj’s birthday arrives.  Frysland dresses her in a little white tuxedo (naturally) and invites a random assortment of people he barely knows (naturally).

I’m not really sure why these people came.  George doesn’t even seem to like Frysland.

Oh, but as soon as Frysland turns around George is all smiles.  Hooray, a party!

Now this guy is unhappy.

Oops, Cape Guy realizes people are looking.  He quickly joins in the spirit of things.

Gypsy is here as well, because he’s friendly and loves parties.

Or he could be lost.  It’s hard to tell.

Then there’s the pirate.  He’s not into the party at all.  Why do pirates always have to spoil things?
