The Teenlers

Boxtopia Part 1 - Fury is very Ethical

Previously:  I said previously whether I needed to or not.

Frysland, Fury, and Lark were supposed to be adopted by a nice family, but something went wrong.  There’s no family, and mysteriously, no house.  There’s just a big field and a detached garage.

A friendly neighbor sees them and explains.

The family that promised to adopt them thought it would take a long time.  They left on a long vacation.

Unfortunately they didn’t hire a house sitter, and the burglar stole their house.

Welcome to the real world.

Frysland:  Do you realize that we’re lost in the system?  Social services thinks we’re with the family, and the family thinks we’re still at the orphan farm.  No one knows where we are, or that we’re in trouble.

Fury:  Ah, sweet Freedom!

Lark:  Is this what Freedom feels like?  Scary and confusing  and a little blurry on one side because your hair keeps falling in front of your eye?

Fury:  Frysland, I’m going to trick Lark by saying I want to go into the garage to find a phone to call for help.  I’m counting on him blindly believing whatever I tell him.  Your job is to be an airhead and forget everything I’ve just said.

Lark:  So, do you see a phone through the window?

Fury:  No, I see something more important.  I see Duty with a capital D.  Do you see Duty?

Frysland:  I see some gnomes and stuff.

Fury:  Yes, and you know how everyone likes to steal gnomes.  What do you think will happen if we leave them unguarded?

Frysland:  Gasp!  You’re right!  The only decent, honest thing for us to do is stay and guard the gnomes!

Fury:  It’s almost too easy.

Lark:  No, it’s not right!  We can’t just break in!

Frysyland:  But it’s our Duty!  With a capitol D!  The capital letter makes it important!

It’s easy enough to get inside.  No one locks doors in a town where burglars steal whole houses.

Frysland:  I love all these boxes.  It’s like some kind of box paradise.  I think I’ll call it Boxtopia.
