What has happened before: Ash has won two badges from Nodoka and Colonge. Nodoka has reveiled to be Ash's aunt, as she was Ash's mother's sister. Therefore Ash and Ranma are cousins. Nodoka has given Hitmochan to Ranma to train, and urges Ranma to go with the rest of the Pokemon gang back to the Pokemon islands. A Pokemon, Ranma 1/2 Fan Fiction Developed for the new Millennium Pokemon 152 - ? 2000 written by Shaun Garin revised by WarChild based on an idea by Kahlil Noriega written with the authors permission Episode 7: Old Faces, New Menace, Same Indifference Pallet Town. A small town with one of the highest pokemon authorities about, Professor Thomas Oak, Ash and co are currently landing in front of the Ketchum house, where they are greeted by Mrs. Ketchum who is in for a very big surprise. <><><> "MOM!" Mrs. Ketchum raced out to greet the wayward Pokemon trainer, sweeping Ash up in a big hug. Behind him, Brock, Misty, Ranma, and James all piled out of the balloon. Ranma adjusted his cap that Kasumi gave him, the front of it emblazoned with DBZ, and a circle of Dragonballs around the letters. He wore his loose silk pants, a long blue Chinese shirt and had Hitmonchan's ball on the belt he wore under his shirt. James climbed out, dressed in stylish jeans, a dress shirt, and had on a polar fleece vest that was emblazoned with Saotome Pokemon Gym on the back. He wore a stylish watch on his right wrist, and wore Wheezing and Victribell's pokeballs on his belt. "So Ash, who's your friends?" asked his mother. "Mom, this is Misty, Brock, James and cousin Ranma, auntie Nadoka's son." "How'd you do Auntie?" Ranma said, bowing respectfully. Mrs. Ketchum burst out into smiles and hugged the taller boy. "My, Nadoka did well for herself. And who's this again?" she asked, turning to James. "I'm James, an EX-Team Rocket Member. Ash and I resolved our differences back in Tokyo. Glad to meet you." Mrs. Ketchum looked amazed. "That's funny, there's three Pokemon here, looking for a man named James. There's a Lickatung, an Arbok and a talking Meowth." "Meowth is here?" James moved past the crowd and opened the door. "Meowth! Answer me!" The group entered the dining room where the three Pokemon were eating away at the food set before them. Meowth looked up and grinned. "Hey James. Finally showed up huh?" "Yeah. Wait, if Arbok and Lickatung are here, then..." Meowth and the other two stopped eating. "James, sit down and I'll tell you what happened to Jessie. Though my memory is spotty at best." <><><> "So, Jessie is with Happosai, huh? Feh, they deserve each other." James shot a look at Ranma and growled, "Ranma, shaddup." Ranma looked hurt. Still, he averted his eyes from Meowth, even with the blindfold on. The knowlage of a talking cat still sent shivers up his spine. "That's all I know. Hey kid," Ash looked over, "the guys and I've been discussing things and wanna go to the Pokemon League wit' ya." "Meowth? Why do you want to go to the Pokemon League?" Meowth looked at the ground. "Well the fact is...I wanna fight in it as Ash's Pokemon!" "Pika?" Pikachu asked curiously. "Char!" Arbok seconded the move to Ash's team. "Licky." Lickatung said so as well. "You guys sure you want me to be your masters?" Ash said, obviously confused. "Why?" "Jessie isn't here and these guys don't want to follow someone who in their opinion isn't her. Besides, it's every Pokemon's dream to win in the Pokemon League." "I don't know... you three promice you'll listen to me?" "Meowth's honor!" the cat declared. "Okay then! Pokeballs GO!" Meowth, Lickatung and Arbok disappeared into the pokeballs with a flash of red light. Misty then yanked the blindfold off of Ranma's eyes. "They're gone." Ranma exhaled deeply. "Thank goodness." <><><> Ash looked up and said, "There's still some time until the Pokemon League. Lets go to that Carnival across town." "Ash, don't you need to train?" Misty asked of the shorter boy. "Aw, it can wait. Ash's trained a lot since coming home." Ranma stretched out and recalled his Hitmonchan. "Let's go and have some fun." Misty sighed. "Bakas." <><><> "OUCH!" "Whatza matter Ash?" Ranma stretched out a hand and touched an invisible forcefield. "There's a wall here." James flicked open a Pokedex, long since unused. <Barrier,> The Pokedex chimed in the old voice, <this is an attack utilized by the mime Pokemon, Mr. Mime.> "If there's a Barrier here, then there's a Mr. Mime somewhere." Brock looked around and then upwards. "There it is!" "Alright! This'll make a great addition to the team! Pokeball..." "PREPARE FOR TROUBLE!" Cried out a female voice. Ash stopped short and his face planted on the ground. "Prepare for Trouble?" he chorused with the others who looked accusingly at James. "I didn't do it!" "AND MAKE IT DOUBLE!" Added a scratchy voice. James slapped a hand to his forehead and let his hand drag down his face. "Aw man...anybody but them." "To Infect the world with devastation!" "To Blight all people's within our nation!" "To protect the goodness of Truth and Love!" "To extend our Wrath to the stars above!" "Cassidy!" "Butch!" "Team Rocket circling the earth all day and night!" "Surrender now or you will surely loose the fight!" "DROWZEE!" "Man that's just as bad as the OTHER motto," Ash said, leaning to the side. Everyone had a huge sweatdrop hanging from their foreheads. "Cassidy," Misty said. "And Buutch." James finished, drawing out the u's. Butch snapped back, "IT'S BUTCH! BUTCH DAGNAMIT!" "Whatever. You looking for a fight?" Ranma cracked his knuckles a couple of times, expecting a battle. "Actually, YES. The boss is very disappointed in both you and Jessie," Butch remarked, a smirk on his face. "He wants the pair of you to report back to..." Butch's face fell as he counted up the group. "Where's Jessie?" "She's someplace where you'll never find her," James said, smirking at him. Cassidy swept her hair back and made a little sound. "Very well. Drowzee, lets show them how powerful you are." "If it's a fight you want, you got it. Bulbasaur GO!" "Bulba!" The small greenish froglike Pokemon appeared in a flare of light. "Bulbasaur, Vine whip!" Two vines extended from his back and started to whip Drowzee. "Drowzee, hypnosis, now!" But before the Drowzee could use his powers, a certain pink ball of fluff landed between the battling group. A moment passed before the creature opened its mouth. "YYAAAAAAHHHH!" James screamed. "JIGGLYPUFF!" Brock yelled in terror. "RUN AWAY, IT'S GONNA SING!" Meowth added. In a cloud of dust, the errant Pokegroup had vacated the premisis just as the sound of Jigglypuff's melodic voice sounded. <Just because I'm small, can't hurt you at all, I'm only a girl who don't know what to do, let me sing my song for you. Not many came, this just makes me mad, I just know how to get to you. Let me sing my song for you.> <When you lay down late at night, I'm the siren you can't fight, I know that you don't stand a chance. There's nothing that you can do once I put my spell on you, once I sing my Lullaby.> <Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, when I sing for you my lullaby.> It stopped in mid song to see the Team Rocket members sound asleep. Having the good fortune, or foolishness to experience the effects of Jigglypuff's Lullaby up close and personal lately, this made them the target of Jigglypuff's marker. "Jiggly puff puff..." she unscrewed the pen and brandished it. "PUFF!" <><><> "Alright, this is a GREAT carnival!" Ranma nodded, walking around with his cousin. He stopped at a picture of a dopey looking man dressed in a magician's classical outfit. "Melvin the Magnificent." Ash sweatdropped. "Oh him." "You know this goober?" Ranma asked. "Yeah, ran into him on the day when Charmander evolved into a Charmelion. That's the same day when he stopped obeying me." Ash looked downwards, depressed. "Man that brings back bad memories. Say, where's Misty and Brock?" Elsewhere, Misty backed off a bit as she laughed nervously. "Um, Melvin, I'm not really available for a full time assistant." "But my assistant bailed on me again," he whined, "said I was a pathetic loser." "That explains a lot," Brock muttered to himself. "Hey guys whazzup?" Ranma asked, walking up with Ash and Pikachu in tow. Misty got a crafty look on her face and manuvered a full bucket into kicking range. "Oh nothing...RANMA-CHAN!" With that, she launched the water into Ranma's face. With a wet splash and gurgle, a short petite red head stood in oversized, wet chinese clothes and a baseball cap looking rediculously oversized on her head as it leaned to the side. "Whadja you do THAT for?!" she demanded. Melvin was at her side immediately. "Miss, I'll pay you fifty dollars to be my assistant." "G'way...hey, you're that magician guy back on the picture back there." Ranma-chan wrung out her clothes and spat out some of the dirty water. "Why ya need an assistant?" "His assistant bailed on him," Brock put in. "He needs a girl to fit into a costume." "He got me last time and since you're a girl half the time..." "NUH UH!" Ranma-chan backed up, "I ain't playing dress up!" "I'll pay you seventy dollars," Melvin interjected. Ranma-chan stopped short. "S-seventy dollars?" she stuttered. One show? Then she recomposed herself. "Nope, get another side show." "Perhaps ninety dollars for one show!" Ranma-chan felt a strange, Lina Inversian feeling rise in her breast. Ninety US dollars was good...very good. But her resolve remained. "I don't think..." "One hundred and ten dollars! I'm desperate!" Melvin clasped onto her leg with an iron grip. "Please miss!" Ranma-chan felt obliged to do it... after all she WAS getting paid in US dollars... "Okay. I'll do it." "YAY!" Melvin started to dance around. Brock watched this with a huge sweatdrop. "Man, she drives a hard bargain," he remarked. <><><> "Ladies and Gentlemen, Eggecutor and I with the help of our lovely assistant Ranko Saotome present our magical act!" The lights went on to reveal a tall tree like Pokemon with a girl waving atop its fronds. Brock went gaga for a split second. Ranma-chan was dressed in a white bodysuit with a unicorn horn on her forehead tiara. A long tail of red and orange flame hung from her backside, her long cherry red hair free and flowing. She was dressed like a sexy female Rapidash which made many of the men in the room stand up and take notice of her vulptuous form. Melvin smiled as his act proceeded. Over the half a year that he had met Ash and his friends, his tricks had gotten better. "And now, we will mismatch my assistant!" Ranma, fully briefed on the magician's tricks prepared for scrunching into the small lower two compartments. The show proceeded perfectly. As the show wound to a close, the men hooted and hollered. Some of the more uninhibited women whistled in appreciation and one man threw a rose. Ranma-chan caught it, sniffed and blinked. "I KNOW this type of rose. Shimatta..." Fortunately, it was NOT Kuno, but a man who was loosely related to him. Had a mouth bigger than anything. Jinnai Katsuhito she recalled. <><><> "That was a great performance Ranma-chan!" Misty enthused as the neo-girl changed behind a dressing wall. "I can't believe that Melvin had got so good in such a short time!" "I was pretty surprised at his skill. That bullet trick however couldn't be pulled off by someone so out of shape." "I was wondering, could you tell me about the bullet trick?" Misty asked. "I saw it as a kid but never found out about how it was done." Ranma finished buttoning her shirt and peeked out. "Sore wa himitsu desu," she teased, wagging a finger. "Besides, it's the duty of a magician to never reveal his secrets." Misty sniffed and shook her head, grinning. She reached over and picked up Togepei from where he rustled around in a pile of wrapping paper. The paper was supplied by fans of Onna Ranma which in turn, covered many presents of chocolate and the such. <><><> "Stupid kids, making fools of us. Who do they think we are, those two blunder busses?" "Don't worry Butch, there's probably something here we can use to capture their Pokemon, AND get some revenge at the same time." "THEN ALLOW ME TO HELP!" At the sound of the voice, the pair spun around and gaped at the woman floating in the air. She was dressed from head to toe in black leather, dark mirror shades. Plates of armor coated her body and a long cape of leather flowed from her shoulders. Her hair, pulled back in the oh so familiar hairstyle, she grinned evilly. "JESSIE!" The other Team Rocket members chorused in shock. Jessie removed her mirror shades and behind them, ruby red irises glowed sinisterly. "Butch, Cassidy. I believe you need my assistance?" "No way!" Butch yelled, stepping forward, Pokeball in hand. "Why in the world would we be asking for help from YOU?!" "Because I..." she floated upwards and made a grasping motion. Butch could feel his body rise, as with Cassidy. They floated up to eye level with the Demoness. "have the POWER." "So what?" Cassidy sneered. "You may have power, but you don't have the old Team Rocket Spirit." "Oh so?" she snapped her finger and in an instant, a strange grey and reddish creature appeared at her side. "This is Mewtwo, the most Powerful Pokemon on the face of this planet. He and I have come to an... understanding. Isn't that right Mewtwo?" {Yes. We have.} "With this power at my fingertips, we can rule the world. Now, do you need my help? Or do you want me to leave you two floating up here for all eternity?" To prove her point, she released Butch and spun him in the air a few times, before sending him into the atmosphere. "I...I think we'll suffer under a temporary truce...for now." Cassidy was suspicious of her motives. Jessie smiled, a fang bared. "Good. Now, here's what I want you to do..." <><><> Ranma dug his feet into the ground as Pidgiotto utilized its Gust attack. The martial artist strained, using his Chi to anchor himself into the ground. He started to glow blue as his feet became like solid rocks. "HARDER PIDGIOTTO!" he shouted. Pidgiotto nodded and swept into his whirlwind attack. Ranma kept his body static for a brief few seconds, before the ground below him tore away. Ranma flew across the Ketchum yard and slammed into the fence, breaking it. Ranma opened his eyes to stare into the fierce eyes of Pidgiotto as he perched atop his chest. "Pigooo?" it asked curiously. He was amazed at how much Ranma could take for a human. "I'm okay," Ranma winced and pulled a white picket from the rubble below him. "But the fence isn't." Pidgiotto made a sound, roughly equivilant to a laugh. Ash came out of the house, yawning. He had a cup of orange juice in his hands. "Whaz going on here Ranma?" he asked of his cousin. "Training. If I can't stand up to Pidgiotto then can I stand up to Tarou in cursed form? I had to know." "Tarou who?" Ash muttered, half awake. "Long story." The bird hopped off his chest and Ranma stood, dusting off his clothes. "I still need to see how much electricity I can take from Pikachu." "Why're ya testing all of the Pokemon's attacks?" Ash looked at Pidgiotto who was pecking at a berry bush. "you trying to learn them?" Ranma nodded solomly. Ash dropped the juice in shock. "But humans can't learn Pokemon attacks, can they?" Ranma grinned a bit. "I have a theory going that Pokemon use special attacks through Chi manipulation. Like Pikachu, he uses his Chi to create electricity in his cheek pouches. Or other normals generate Hyperbeams which are a weaker Chi blast than I or Ryoga uses. I'm trying to see what attacks I can create or replicate by using my Chi." "Cool. Okay, come in, breakfast's ready." Ranma paused to look into the skies as he inhaled deeply. It was a beautiful sunrise. Feeling better than he had ever felt before, he entered the house. <><><> "Okay! Bulbasaur, Vine Whip now!" "Hitmonchan, fire punch!" The plant Pokemon dodged away from the flaming hand and lashed out with a vine. It snapped Hitmonchan across the backside and it jumped a bit. Retaliating with a Comet Punch, he knocked Bulbasaur into the bushes. Ranma smirked. "Ready ta give up Ash?" "NO WAY!" he shouted back. "BULBASAUR, TACKLE ATTACK!" With a resounding cry, Bulbasaur dashed out from the bushes and slammed Hitmonchan into the tree behind him. Hitmonchan made a weak sound as his eyes spun in dizzy circles. Brock made a notation on his clipboard. "That's two victories out of five for Ash." "Poor Ranma, he's not a very good Pokemon Trainer is he?" Misty sighed and fed Togepei his breakfast. "Pikachu," the little mousey Pokemon agreed while sitting atop James' head. "Hmm, Ranma's got the skill and technique but Ash has more experience. It's like shadow boxing only they fight back." James studied Ash's style and concluded, "maybe a different approach would be better for this fight." "What do you mean James?" Misty asked. "Well, Hitmonchan doesn't have a long range, especially against Bulbasaur's Vine Whip, Razor Leaf and Solar Beam. While Bulbasaur is weak up close and personal. It seems to me that if Hitmonchan employs speed in its attacks, he would get the upper edge against Ash's Bulbasaur." "Wow, you really know your Pokemon James," Brock admired. James smirked a bit. "I may be bad, but I know my Pokemon. Going to Pokemon Tech actually helped me a bit. That and I learn from my mistakes." "Oh really?" Misty said, a sweatdrop hanging from her forehead. Ranma recalled his Hitmonchan and grudgingly accepted defeat. "Pretty good. But I could still beat you at Martial Arts." Just then, Ash's mother stuck her head out the door. "Oh Ash! The Carnival just called!" "The Carnival? What do they want?" "It seems that they're having problems with a Mr. Mime and called Professor Oak. He's rather busy right now so he want' you to go and take a look at it." "Alright. Come on Pikachu." <><><> "He was the best part of our Carnival shows until he just quit. I think I pushed him too far." Ranma looked into the trailer to see a slightly overweight Pokemon eating chocolate. "He seems lazy now." "I was hoping to capture another Mr. Mime to show our Mr. Mime that he isn't all that bad," the female Ringmaster said. "But lately it's been hard to find a wild Mr. Mime these days." "Say Ash, didn't we see a Mr. Mime yesterday?" Misty asked. "If we can find him again, then perhaps we can convince it to help out." "That's a great idea!" Ash exclaimed. "We'll find your Mr. Mime for you and bring it here!" <><><> "There's the twerps," Jessie said, adjusting her black leather cape. "You know what to do." With a wave of her hand, a huge shock proofed tank appeared, emblazoned with the R of Team Rocket. "Should we capture that Pikachu while we're at it Boss?" Butch asked of Jessie. "Go right ahead." As they climbed into the tank, Cassidy looked at her suspiciously. "I just want to know WHY you're helping us. What's your motives?" "That is my buisness only," Jessie said. "Now go. And make sure you get that Pikachu for me." <><><> "That Mr. Mime should be around here somewhere." Ash felt around for the familiar wall of Barriers. Across the road, Misty and Brock searched the plants. James moved his Pokedex around the area like a tricorder, sweeping for a Mr. Mime and Ranma had taken to the trees, searching from the treetops. "It's like finding a Needle in a Haystack," Brock complained. "We'll never find the Mr. Mime this way." "Come on Brock, we need to help the Ringmaster with her problems." James grinned a bit. "Besides, ain't she cute?" Brock blushed and started to blubber like a baby, poking two fingers together. Misty sighed and she and Togepei continued searching the bushes. "Men." she groused. Ranma leapt down from the treetops in front of Ash. "I didn't see anything up in the trees. Perhaps it moved on?" "But we have to find it! No matter what!" Just then, a sound was heard from the sky. It sounded like a cute battle cry. Suddenly, Ash was slammed into the ground as a Mr. Mime landed on his head. "MR. MIME!" it crowed happily. "Oh! It's the Mr. Mime!" Misty exclaimed. "Great. Now can you ask it to get offa me?" "Mr. Mime, can you help us?" Misty asked of it once it had gotten off of Ash. "Mime?" "We need to prove to another Mr. Mime that it's not useless. Will you come back to the Carnival to help?" "MIME!" The Mr. Mime bobbed its head a couple of times in agreement. <><><> "Target in sight. Remind me again WHY we're doing this Cassidy?" "Because Jessie threatened us with bodily harm Butch. Besides, it's time to exact a little revenge against those kids." Cassidy grinned a bit at the thought. <><><> Mime met Mime and the older Mr. Mime looked up and said, "Mime?" "Mr. Mime!" replied the younger one. "Mr. Mime, can't you see that we need you here in the circus?" The Ringmaster asked of the elder. "Mr. Mime. Mime Mime." "What's he saying?" Ash asked. "It seems that he doesn't see how a younger one can prove him to be useful," the older woman said. Turning to the older Mr. Mime, she said, "Mr. Mime, can't you reconsider working for us?" "Mime." Just then, the sound of a heavy truck or something heavier was heard. The ground started to rumble and shake wildly as a huge tank lumbered into view. James gaped. "That's a Team Rocket Tank!" A loudspeaker moved out of the top and a loud laugh was heard. "Hello James!" crowed a familiar voice. "Aw man it's THEM!" Ranma complained. The megaphone switched voices to the lower, scratchy voice of Butch. "It's time to pay the piper! We're taking the Pokemon, starting with your Pikachu!" "You're not getting Pikachu!" Ash shouted. "Pika!" "You don't have a choice kid." The huge barrel moved into position and an ominous clicking sound was heard. Ash made the first move. "PIKACHU, THUNDERBOLT!" "PikaaaaaaaaCHUUU!" To their shock, the electrical discharge only bounced off the thick rubber hide. The megaphone sounded again. "It's made of Rubber so you can't beat us!" Cassidy said smugly. "We'll see about that! Mouko Takabisha!" >From the outstretched hands of Ranma, a yellow beam of confidence lanced out and struck the tank, tossing it on its side. It bounced once, and made a full rotation, bouncing and rolling. It landed with a thud on its treads and within the barrel, a missile barred its teeth. The cannon aimed upwards and shot the bullet. It lanced upwards and on its returning arc it exploded. A net fell from the skies and caught Ash and Pikachu in it grasp. "We're trapped!" Ash shouted. The tank turned and started to lumber towards them. "We'll run you over!" Butch said, maneuvering the tank forward. Just then, the Mr. Mime sprang into action. With a waving of its arms and a chanting of words, a solid wall was created. The tank slammed into it with a thud. The passengers were jarred within. "Stupid Mr. Mime!" Butch spat. By now, Ash and Pikachu were freed and Ash turned to the other Mr. Mime who watched its companion maintain the Barriers. "Mr. Mime, this is your chance to prove you're not useless! Go and help!" "MIME!" "We can't go through it, so we'll go around it." Butch threw the Tank into reverse and moved backwards. Suddenly, it slammed against another Barrier. "Dangit!" he snarled angrily. Within seconds, the walls were built around the tank and it was encased within a solid wall of impenetrable Barriers. <><><> "So, Mr. Mime, you feel better now?" The ringmaster asked of the elder. "Mime!" "That's great!" Across the way, a tremendous explosion was seen as the Team Rocket Tank blew up, sending Butch and Cassidy flying. James watched them go and thought for a second. "I wonder." At his words, the others looked at him. "Only Jessie and I had access to Tanks like that. Could it be that Jessie had a hand in this?" "It's possible. But hey, let's head back. It's almost supper time." Ranma's stomach growled hungrily. Everyone shared a laugh as the martial artist's stomach roared with hunger. End Episode 7 (Don't go away, the Pokerap is next!)
