Kurama 1/2
Side Story 1
By Sionna Klassen

To fit in a story by Kristin Huntsman, or rather an alternate timeline since all of the nights spent in China are already taken. So it's a severely impossible story, but I don't mind if no one else does. For players of the Drinking Game: I assume this counts as a fan-fic, so have a drink!

Hairspray crept carefully into Shuichi's room, being careful not to wake him. She closed the door behind her and lay down next to him, noticing with some disappointment that he was female at the moment. <Oh well...it can't be helped...> She touched Shuichi's red hair, streaming across the pillow. Shuichi was facing away from her, lying on her side, but Hairspray hoped that would change soon. Gently she tugged at the covers until she could slip underneath them, then she cuddled close to Shuichi and laid her cheek against Shuichi's back. Shuichi stirred slightly in her sleep, sensing Hairspray's presence. Hairspray kissed the back of Shuichi's neck, then moved her hands over Shuichi's side and to her front, touching her breasts through her thin nightshirt. Shuichi sighed, but didn't wake. Hairspray smiled and really got busy.

Kurama sighed as she felt rose petals touch her skin. They fluttered over her breasts, feather-light touches that made her skin tingle. She turned over, and in response the light touches became stronger, surer. She wriggled deeper into the bed of flowers, delighting in the sensations. She gave a sigh of pleasure and opened her mouth, and the roses kissed her.

That startled her awake; she stiffened as she realized that Hairspray was in her bed, her lips on Kurama's and her hands still stroking along Kurama's breasts. She stared at Hairspray for a moment, her mind unable to form a coherent sentence.

Hairspray stopped briefly, but then she smiled and continued, leaning forward to kiss Kurama's neck. "Don't--" Kurama started in a whisper.

"But you want it, don't you?" Hairspray whispered back, continuing her stroking. A wave of pleasure washed over Kurama and she shivered. Hairspray smiled, taking that as a yes, and reached down lower, tracing her fingers down Kurama's bare stomach, her nightshirt being tangled higher on her body from moving around in her sleep. Her questing fingers skipped lower, traced up the inside of Kurama's thigh, then hesitantly rested--

Suddenly Kurama broke away from Hairspray's embrace, scrambling out of bed. She ran from the room, ignoring Hairspray's whispered cry of "Wait!"

Kurama ran out the front door, still barefoot and heedless of the rain. She was already female, what else could it do? She plunged into the trees, determined to lose herself in them as quickly as possible. When she thought she'd gone far enough from the house, she concentrated and shifted into her - his - youko form without any of the usual theatrics. He wanted, needed, to be able to be soaking wet and still be male. He stood in the rain for some time, chilled and dripping, before he started thinking about where to sleep.

He was _not_ going back to the house. Not while Hairspray was in there. It didn't matter that he hadn't paid any attention to where he'd been going, he could find his way back easily if he wanted to. Which he didn't.

It took some doing, but Kurama finally found a tree with branches low enough to shelter him from the worst of the wind and rain if he curled up under them. He did, still in his youko body and intending to stay that way. He finally fell asleep, soaked through and chilled to the bone. But at least he didn't dream.

Hiei sat outside the door to the hut Yuusuke and Kuwabara were sharing, scratching on the frame. He'd been caught out in the rain last night, and had seen Kurama run into the woods. He'd known that Kurama wouldn't be coming back until morning, and so far he'd been right; there was no sign of him. Her.

He'd had no idea of how much trouble fur could be when it got wet. It stuck together in ragged clumps and refused to dry. He'd even tried licking himself like an ordinary cat, but all it got him was a mouth full of fur. He wanted to get back into his real body, immediately if not sooner. Unfortunately he couldn't heat water himself, so that meant he had to rely on the charity of others to do it for him. He hated that.

Yuusuke finally opened the door, yawning and rubbing his eyes. He glanced around, not seeing anything, before he looked down and his gaze finally landed on Hiei. Hiei pushed past his ankles, unintentionally rubbing against them. He sat down on the floor and gave Yuusuke an expectant look.

Yuusuke finally remembered about Hiei's curse and said blankly, "What, Hiei?"

Hiei grumbled to himself. <And just how am I supposed to answer, idiot? Cats can't talk.> He mrowled impatiently.

Yuusuke suddenly got it. "Oh. Hot water. Right." He walked into the kitchen, yawning, and put a kettle on the stove. Hiei followed, sitting down again on the kitchen floor. He looked with disgust at his wet fur and tried licking it again, but gave up the effort when his tongue only made his fur stick together even more. He watched the kettle and tried to make it boil faster through sheer willpower.

Finally Yuusuke removed it from the stove and dangled it in his hand, grinning. "So... how much do you want it?"

Hiei laid his ears back flat and hissed at him. Yuusuke chuckled, and Hiei took a swipe at him with his claws. "Hey! Be nice or I won't give you the water!"

Hiei glared at him, then purred falsely. Not that Yuusuke could tell the difference. He only grinned again and said, "Okay - since you asked nicely." He poured the boiling water on Hiei's head.

Hiei gave a stifled yowl that somehow turned into a gasp as the boiling water changed him back. The instant he was back to normal, he surged up from the floor and grabbed the kettle out of Yuusuke's hand. He snarled at Yuusuke, "If you EVER do that again--"

"What? Pour hot water on you? Okay, I won't."

Hiei struggled to hold onto his temper. "Not that, you idiot!"

Yuusuke shrugged. "You might want to find some clothes before you go back out."

Hiei seethed quietly. All of his clothes were back in the other hut or in the woods, and Yuusuke knew it. "Can I use some of yours?" he finally asked sourly.

"Sure," Yuusuke said. "Since you asked nicely."

Hiei growled at him.

Kurama was still asleep, and still a youko. Which meant still male. <Good.>

Hiei had changed back into the clothes he'd shrunk out of last night at the earliest opportunity, taking Yuusuke's with him. They'd been five sizes too big for him anyway. Then he tracked Kurama to the tree he was sleeping under, and was watching him from the higher branches of another. He had the kettle of hot water with him.

He was still debating whether to wake Kurama or not when Kurama stirred and lifted his head.

Kurama sneezed and brushed wet hair out of his eyes. He was still damp and cold, not to mention the dirt in his hair. <I wonder if I'll catch a cold if I shift back to human form,> he thought. <I have to, though.> He looked up at the sky. <Everyone else is probably awake by now, and wondering where I am. I can't very well go back like this.>

He sighed in annoyance. <I should _not_ have to sleep in the rain, fiancee or no fiancee! I don't care if it is the law of this village, I've got to get her to leave me alone somehow!>

Hiei dropped out of a tree next to him. Kurama looked at him, and Hiei held out a kettle of hot water. "You want this?"

Kurama considered, then shook his head. "I want to try something first." He concentrated hard as he shifted back to human shape.

He looked at his hand, smiling. "It worked," he said. He was still male, even though he'd been female before he'd turned into a youko. <That means I have some control over it, at least...>

But it didn't last. "Oh, damn," he muttered, as the soaking he'd taken from the rain took effect and he changed again.

"You want this after all?" Hiei asked.

Kurama sighed and looked at the clothes Hiei was holding. "Whose are those?"

"Yuusuke's," Hiei said, and didn't explain how he'd gotten them.

Kurama looked down at her wet nightshirt, and blushed. <I can't go back like this.> "I don't think Yuusuke's clothes would fit me if I changed back," she said, reaching for them. "Better too big than too small."

Hiei seemed unaccountably disgruntled that she'd decided to stay female. "Whatever," he said as he let go of the clothes - then he disappeared.

Kurama frowned. <Dammit, I wish he'd just _tell_ me what's bothering him!>

Umm... this is about as etchi as "Only Yuu", or possibly even less... Sandy is not the only timid smut writer out there. But to make this qualify for even more drinking, it counts, and I must also apologize for it... I'm sorry, O Great Kamisama, I'm sorry for putting (barely) etchi stuff on the list... But Sandy's right, it is DAMN fun! :)

Hmm, I think I need a sig...

Oh well, ja ne!
